About Wendy-Ann George
From the beginning, I grew up with nature as my back yard and loved it. So much was my appreciation I bathed with its fruits, made body packs and scrubs with its sands, mud and sulfur, refreshing myself in its rivers, beaches, and hot springs. Time was my only expense and it too belonged to nature. It was here I began the journey to Mosheenspice Naturals.
Located in the Eastern Caribbean, Grenada, the isle of spice, its volcanic soil boasts lush vegetation including cocoa, nutmeg, cinnamon, and cloves to name a few. On my way home from one of island’s many hot springs I met Mott Green, an American who fell in love with island and lived here part time. He introduced me to his dream to create organic dark chocolate using cocoa which was hardly being processed locally. This idea is now The Grenada Chocolate Co. This friendship gave me access to amazing high quality cocoa butter where I started experimenting with oils.
Nutmeg is used on the island to spice foods and various medicinal ailments so I incorporated nutmeg fat into body butters. Word started to spread and demand grew in 2000 while still in its nude stage.
After six years with the chocolate company I left to give my full attention to Mosheenspice Naturals. More sheen, more light, more goodness from the isle of spice and all other naturals hence the name. It is a home-based project now located in NYC doing small batches.
Grenada is a Caribbean country comprising a main island, also called Grenada, and smaller surrounding islands. Dubbed the “Spice Isle,” the hilly main island is home to numerous nutmeg plantations. It’s also the site of the capital, St. George’s, whose colorful homes, Georgian buildings and early-18th-century Fort George overlook narrow Carenage Harbour. To the south is Grand Anse Beach, with resorts and bars.
